week 8

Has come to a close with a bang… and for that I am happ.
I was able to do a bit of a tapper this week as I knew that I had a race Saturday. I still got my miles in I just did them differently. and did you realy think I wouldnt be in the pool. LOL so here is the week in a nut shell than I will tell you more.
Monday swim/kick 2000yrds
Tuesday run 3 miles swim/kick 2400yrds
wednesday run 6 miles swim/kick 2200yrds
Thursday run 2.22 miles swim/kick 1750yrds walk 3 miles
Friday swim/kick 2500yrds
SATURDAY RACE DAY!!!!!!!!!! 10 miles official time 1:34:44 WAHOO!
so my week was going well. we are tappering in the pool so I havent been as tired from that as well. and the wonderful fact that my arm hurts still so We are doing ALOT OF KICKING it is nice to not be up in the 6,000yrd range : ) so this week was easier on my legs for that fact. I didnt bike at all because of the race. and than on Thursday. tell you the trueth I thought I had only done 1 mile by the time Igot that bloody nose… : )
It was funny I was a beating on the door and a beating ont he door… as blood was running all down my face. stupid nose and lack of vitamin! K. Von willibrands has a funny way of showing up in my life. So no one came to the door. ( more than likely dad was trying to get some clothing on) I decided. welp we are going to use the water outside to start washing it off…. (Mind you this is my perception of it all) the door did not make anyone move it was the water running outside that got attention…. HEE HEE… so make sure you wash all that off before you come in. I had to have looked like a bloody deer in the headlights when momma opened the door and I looked up and said…. “I have a bwoody nose momma” LOL…
So in I went and kinda got babied…. I mean I got a ride back into work. : ) and I got to steal a towel… which I am still trying to get the stupid blood out of. shesh blood is a rough thing! and momma and I got to chitter. we dont get to do that too often. and best. I GOT HER CLORIEN TAKER OUTER SHAMPOO!!!!!! now that is worth the bloody nose. hee hee…. I laughed all day told everyone it was the look of make sure ALL that is off you before you come in the house. lol… and than a friend said… no she was just trying to make sure there were no suitcases behind you. she is just scared youa re trying to move back in. we had a realy good laugh about all the fun. and coach DID let me swim after my nose had stopped for 20 min. YEAH!
so latter that day I went out for my weekly walk with my friend. and it was wonderful. two dogs pullin….. my girlfriend with her stroller and a baby a jabberen…. who took my water bottle and kept it. *G* realy I’d give my left foot to the baby if it would make her happy…. but i think her feet are cuter and she should stick with her own. : )
anyway…. I was supposed to run 13 miles on Saturday…and I didnt. I know you are giving me the LOOK… here is why. the race silly. I know me. and I had all the planes to head right back out find my friend and run her back in. But I smelled that wonderful bar B Q and there was NO WAY I WAS going back out there without eating. : ) sad isnt it. but I needed to eat. everyone on the trail knew that I have troubles with my sugars all were on allert. they even had oranges at all the aid stations along the way. BUT HERE IS THE COOL THING!
I have been learning how to use nutrition on the trail. on all my training runs there hasn’t been an aide station. so I had to learn how to bring it with me…. and it is working. I came accross NOT SHAKING FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!!!!!!!! and it felt absolutly wonderful. I even had enough in me to sprint accross the line. so at everystation I was able to pass it up and depend on no one but myself. Thanks to my momms running pack she bought me! *BEAMING A SPOLED SMILE HERE*
I believe that my best 10 mile run was a 1:46 and some change. I was out with Mrs. M on this trail as I am in most runs… and I have to say she is fast. faster than me but not by much. so My goal became to just keep her in my sights. IF I could do that…. than I would be able to get a reasonable time that would beat anything I have ever done before…. it wasnt until Lankashire road that I watched her go down the hill to never see her again (Untill the end) I was upset that my legs were slowing. but they weren’t everytime I crossed a mile marker I would split the time. and I was going faster in every mile by a good 5 seconds. so I wasnt slowing. she was just going faster than I could. and that was all I could do. pace myself and try my hardest. Mile 8-9 was done in 9.21 and mile 9-10 was done in 9.06 after looking at my watch for the past 8 weeks and always seeing just over a 10 min. mile or an 11 min mile. to see a 9 min mile seemed out of this world.
I am so PLEASED WITH MY TIME!!!!!!!!!!! 1 hour 34 minutes and 44 seconds was the official time. do you read that as wonderfully as I do….? because that means that it would be possable for me to run a 4 hour marathon…… that all this training is going to be AMAZING!!!!! and I am going to cross with a smile. thank HEAVENS! I had begun to think other wise….
so this week Saturday was supposed to be 13 but next week was supposed to be 10. so I swapped them and took my amazing win ( in my world) to bed with me as I smiled in my sleep…..
If I could pick the best part of yesterday… it wouldnt be my great time. it would be the fact that my husband and children were int eh car… surprising all of us, 7 of the girls that ran I have been training with….. cheering fromt he car. they all said how special the kids were and that it helped them along. as it did me! they were in one spot… than they rushed up the road to the next spot. but you never knew how many miles you were going to have to do to see them again…. but it kept you looking and hopefull… and want you to look like you were in your best form when you went by them. : ) didnt want to look tired even when you were. : )
well this is my week. and next week will not be so exciting I am sure. BUT for this week ……. I am blessed. : )
M.T. miles 153 -3 out of 435 in 8 weeks….. now I was short 5 and I added in the 3 miles for my walk even though I only ran 2 in the morning. so that gains me up 2 miles in my 5 mile shortage. I will be getting int he 13 this saturday instead of 10 just a swap. so I will be right on track again….

Congrats on your time – any idea of how you placed? Did they do age groups or just overall?

paper said 21st…. but there are more people that came in. but they shut everything down and had already given out all the gifts and awards…. so we ate and left. I think there is a letter to the editor coming from my husband over the lack of care from the people that were running it. they were more excited to get out than to cheer people in. : )
and it was a Dr. friend that said you were looking for a suitcase… so…. you know. he nailed it!
