New coop coming along.

Ever watching Vlad! He is so excited about the new coop. Well, he is now. The first night he went and hid in the dog house and tried to stay the night there. Dad and I had to tip the dog house to get him out.

The girls on the other hand are supper happy about all the space and the new perches. OYE! those girls are spoiled. Mr Chicken decided they needed nothing but the best. A bird spends its whole life on it’s feet. Sleeping on her little feet has to get rough. So Mr. Chicken made sure they had the best, Hemlock handrails are what these girls perch on every night.

If a chicken could smile…. I imagine this would be their smile… sleeping the night away so happy that they can cuddle or they can stay far away. Whatever they would like to do. 🙂 Mr Chicken sure knows how to make his girls smile.

He is even giving them art on the walls…… 🙂

Which Brings us to how I SPOIL the girls.  I have been doing a bit of reading on things that the girls might need that we have not thought about. and CURTAINS for the boxes seems to be an overwhelming need when they will be in a coop for the winter. long months, close quarters, and not enough private places leads to cranky girls.

So I went to the Fabric store with Auntie and we picked out these two. I got enough for 3 sets of curtains for 5$ I am a bargain shopper for sure. ;). That way if the girls tare them down or if what I did doesn’t work we can redo them.

So I took my time in getting these started. Measuring and looking at how it would be best….

NO I AM JUST KIDDING!!!!!!

I am one to just see it in my head… and if it doesn’t work. a throw it out and start again. LOL

so I got started….

Made slits up the middles about where it would need to be and than made a hem line. Last thing we need is chickens pecking at the pretty new curtains. so i was trying to get rid of everything that would drive them nutsoid. 🙂

Half way…. THAT I measured…I made a loose stitch so I could gather and make a pretty flow…

So the curtains would have an opening… and be pretty… I mean really they are girls after all.

Than bows to the tops over every slit. But again you cannot have anything hanging down that a chicken might enjoy chewing on. So if you notice that we just made a simple bow….

One piece…. Fold

Fold other side in.

Place in the spot you want it….

That looks good…. it is an exact science as you can see.

Sew around all four sides.

Walllllla!!!!!!

One set done…. I like the look but want to see what the other design will bring as well….

Those ones are the strait ones…

Only pretty bows on the tops. no gathering….

Those BUTT SHOWS

What the head knows…..

They will be LOVED! USED! LOOK MA EGGS!!!!!!!!!!!
